FlightDecide ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the FlightDecide mobile application ("App") and related services ("Service").
Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
You can create an account with an email address and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Sign in with Google. If you register with email and password, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with a name and an email address, which may be a private relay address that forwards to your real inbox, and we never receive your Apple ID password. If you use Sign in with Google, Google provides us with your name and email address, and we never receive your Google password; Google's privacy policy governs its handling of your Google account data. We may also collect a display name if you choose to provide one.

This data is used to generate your flight analysis and is transmitted to our servers and processed by our AI analysis engine. See Section 4 for details on third-party services.
We collect anonymized data about how you use the App, including features accessed, analysis counts, and error logs. This data helps us improve the Service. Usage analytics do not include your specific flight routes or personal information.
When the app crashes or encounters an error, we collect a crash report containing the stack trace, device model, iOS version, app version, and an opaque internal user identifier. No flight data, routes, or personally identifiable information is included in crash reports. This data is sent to Sentry and used solely to identify and fix bugs.
We collect basic device information including iOS version, device model, and app version for diagnostic and support purposes.
Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not have access to your payment card details.

We do not use your flight data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Our website shares limited browsing data with Meta to measure our advertising, as described in Section 4.

No security system is perfect. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
FlightDecide integrates with the following third-party services:
Your flight data is sent to the Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to generate narrative briefings. Microsoft's terms govern their processing of this data; prompts and completions are not used to train the underlying models. We send only the data necessary to generate your analysis.
We query the FAA's Aviation Weather Center APIs to retrieve METARs, TAFs, SIGMETs, and PIREPs. These requests may include your departure and destination airport codes.
We query FAA data services for NOTAMs and airspace information. Airport identifiers from your flight plan are included in these requests.
We query NAV CANADA data services for Canadian NOTAMs and significant weather information. Airport identifiers from your flight plan are included in these requests.
We query the Open-Meteo weather API for winds and temperatures aloft along your route. These requests include geographic coordinates derived from your departure and destination airports, but no account or personal information.
If you sign in with Google, we verify your Google-issued sign-in token with Google to authenticate your account. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of your account data.
Apple handles all in-app purchases and subscription billing. Apple's privacy policy governs their handling of payment and purchase data.
We use Sentry to collect crash reports and error diagnostics from the iOS app. Sentry receives stack traces, device type, iOS version, app version, and an opaque internal user identifier (not your email or name). No flight routes, analysis data, or personally identifiable information is included in crash reports. Crash data is retained for 30 days. Sentry's privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy.
Our website (flightdecide.com) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page traffic. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not collect personal information. Cloudflare's privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Our website (flightdecide.com) uses the Meta Pixel so we can measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram and show FlightDecide ads to people who have visited the site. When it loads, it sends Meta the page you viewed, the page you came from, the time, your browser type and your IP address, and it sets a cookie named _fbp in your browser that expires after 90 days. It runs only on the website, never in the App, and it never receives your flight data, your account details or anything you type into a calculator. When you run one of the free calculators, it also records that a calculation was made and on which calculator, without any of the numbers. It does not load at all if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, if your browser's time zone is in Europe, or if your browser language is French (Canada). Meta's Limited Data Use setting is on, so Meta applies its California privacy handling to visitors there. You can review and limit how Meta uses this data at facebook.com/adpreferences. FlightDecide publishes its own educational videos on its YouTube channel (youtube.com/@FlightDecide) through YouTube API Services, using an internal tool that only FlightDecide operates. The tool acts only on the FlightDecide channel, with the channel owner's authorization. It does not access the YouTube account or data of anyone who uses the App or watches our videos. It uses the channel's own videos, captions, playlists and aggregate analytics reports, which are stored on FlightDecide's own systems. This data is not sold or shared, and it is refreshed or deleted within 30 days, except the channel's own aggregate statistics, which we keep while the authorization remains in place. YouTube is a Google service: see the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. The channel owner can revoke the tool's access at any time on Google's security settings page, myaccount.google.com/connections.
Our backend infrastructure uses Azure Application Insights to collect performance metrics and error logs from our servers. This data includes request counts, response times, server-side error details, and internal user identifiers. It does not include your flight data or personal information beyond what is necessary to identify and resolve technical issues. This data is stored in Microsoft Azure's Canada Central region.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@flightdecide.com. We will respond within 30 days. Account deletion can also be initiated from within the App settings.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Flight analysis history is retained for up to 12 months to support the history feature. Usage analytics are retained in anonymized form for up to 24 months.
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal compliance purposes.
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Users between 13 and 18 should use the App only with parental consent.
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including Canada and the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, by in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
